In the race to replace term-limited Councilmember Peter Koo, UNITE HERE Local 100 endorsed Sandra Ung for City Council this week.
Unite Here represents 17,000+ food service and restaurant workers across New York City. They represent workers in cafeterias, executive dining rooms, restaurants, bars, delis, airports, sports and exhibition halls and performing arts centers throughout New York City, Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey.
Upon endorsing, they said “It is a privilege to endorse Sandra Ung with whom we have a long relationship, from her service as a representative for NYS Senator John Liu or Congresswoman Grace Meng to her work as a lawyer at Sanctuary for Families. She has been available to our members on her different roles in government so it is without doubt that we believe it is time to elect Sandra Ung to City Council. She has devoted her career to serving people in need and we trust that she will continue doing so!” Said Jose Maldonado, Secretary Treasurer.
Sandra Ung said, “I am so honored to receive these endorsements from UNITE HERE Local 100, which represents hundreds of local workers. Since I launched my campaign, I have been working to build a coalition to put our city on the path towards a just recovery. I look forward to working together with this coalition of unions and community leaders to fight for real investments in working families, upgrading our infrastructure and securing good jobs for local workers.”
These endorsements highlight that Sandra is the best candidate for working New Yorkers.
